Have you checked to make sure there are no clogs stopping things up. I know if my Dyson can't get good suction it will automatically shut off. That usually means somebody has sucked up something and nothing can get past or I need to empty out the canister.

My Sis has an expensive vacuum, not a Dyson, but when hers does that its cause it needs a new Hepa Filter. Good Luck! Hope thats all it is.

Have it services by a vacuum shop. You will find them in the yellow pages.

I have just been down the local council tip to dump some rubbish and counted 13 Dyson cleaners does that tell you something it tells me they cant be that good.

if youve had it less than 12 months and had it from argos or somewhere like that you should be able to take it back if you got reciept or packageing with item number on!!

I'm afraid dyson are extrremely overpriced and over rated.
recently voted worse vaccuum cleaner! Should always buy a henry, cheap and powerful and everlasting.
Anyway, most likely problem is that your vaccuum is blocked somewhere. They have thermal cut outs to prevent overheating.
You should take apart every part possible (without opening it up) Check the filters, wash the dust collector. If it has a hose attachment, take this off and run water through it.
Once you are sure you've cleaned everything possible and changed any filters,you should be ok. If not, then must time for a new motor! (or go for the henry)

Hi, i had this problem with my vacuum, not a dyson. i found out the motor was overheating due to the airflow slider being shut. this is the piece of plastic which you can slide open to reveal a hole or shut to close it, situated on the plastic handle.
Always keep it so open, so that air can cool the motor. hope it helps. good luck.
