Otherwise - you rely on flatmates to keep carpets clean.

Hi Ditto, I vacuum, and as you know I'm from the U.S. People.Holly Cookie Star, you shouldn't get so worked up, especially if you've ever asked anyone to hand you a Kleenex (which is a brand name used by a particiular tissue company), or put a Band-Aid on a cut, since Band-Aid is a braned name used by a specific company that produces adhesive bandages! Everyone calls an action or a general product by a brand name that's closely associated with it in some form or another.
