i bought a shark cordless vac, and i hate this company!!! My AC power adaptor cord ripped, and i called to purchase a new one, they told me it would be 2-4 weeks. SO, i wait. After 4 long weeks with out my vac, i called them to see what the status was on my adaptor. The guy told me it would be a few days. SO i wait more. I called them again, after over a week, and then they tell me the adaptor is on back order till august 15, and it is curently june 25th. their customer service was terrible, and they are covering shipping and handling. GEE thanks... I got the coporate office number, and lets just hope they can help. I should haver got the dirt devil. Anyone have suggestions, or similar issues?

Shark (and Dirt Devil by the way) are companies that cater to big box stores. The manufacturer understands that the product going out the door in the big box stores won't be brought back there after a month or so( whatever that stores return policy is), as long as the machine lasts that long it is out of the stores hair, and then you're stuck calling a customer service line or hunting down a certified warranty service center in your area. The big box store made their money off of you so they are happy, and the manufacturer doesn't really have to stand behind the machine because Wally World is buying the product regardless.
Here's how you avoid this. Purchase from an independent dealer. They will know what machines hold up the best, and they can take care of you after wards since they are a dealer. The customer service will always be better because you can go right back to that same person who sold it to you if you have a problem, and for that reason they will want to sell you the best possible machine for the money. Since that is what they deal in, they will know what the best machines are in each price bracket.
Buy as much of the stuff you need off of independent specialty stores, because they will show you respect(you deserve it, you spent money there), because they value your business.

Had a great talk with an Old Timer Vacuum Cleaner Salesman, who retired the off the road thing, to have his own Sales/Repair shop. BASICALLY, ALL vacuum cleaners are not made to last. Vacuum CLeaners join that long list of "Life Scams" that is part of our disposable Society !

But today, things are worse, because of cheap parts, and if someone did make ANYTHING that would last, they would be soon out of business !

One day while using the vacuum, the distance mechanism on the "ergonomically designed" handle, just kind of exploded in my hand !

Anyway, I waited just one day after I put in my order for a "ergonomically designed" handle at $12.36US, when I just put a screw INTO the metal handle itself, securing it like FORT KNOX !

Now I am looking to replace the side, PLASTIC, hanging, hose clip...AGAIN, PLASTIC ! UGH ! That's probably "ergonomically designed", too !

Oh well, this is all, just part, of Life's Rich Pageant !

I think I've figured out their "delivery" scam.

They want you to spend MORE money for delivery charges, and if you don't they just don't deliver it, period ! And if they do, if you even cancel the order,
you only have TEN DAYS to adjust the card or it stays charged !

I already told you about how I fixed my handle with a screw.

A month goes by, and out of curiousity, when I called them up to cancel the order, they told me that the order was cancelled, BUT IF IT DID ARRIVE..EVEN THOUGH I CANCELLED THE ORDER, I have ONLY the 10 days to adjust the credit card !
