If it sounds like a high-pitched squealing, it could be that one of the belt pulleys or brush is stuck in place, making the belt rub. Is there any burning smell? Have you tried running the vacuum upside down to make sure everything is moving well. Spin all moving parts to make sure they all move.

Bad motor, toss it and get a good machine. Vacuums dont have many moving parts: the motor, the belt and brushroll/beaterbar. If its not the brushroll and the bely it good, then its definately the motor. Junk it, not worth fixing
